Herr Foods
Nottingham, Chester County, PA
Herr Foods was founded in 1946 when 21-year-old Jim Herr bought a small potato-chip operation, initially cooking chips in a household kettle. In 1952 he acquired 37 acres in Nottingham and built the plant that remains its headquarters. The company expanded over the decades into popcorn, pretzels, tortilla chips, and more, passing $100 million in annual sales by 1996. Still family-owned, Herr's employs more than 1,600 people, makes 340+ snack products distributed in all 50 states and internationally, and marked roughly 80 years in business in 2026.
